Celebrate the long history of Buffalo’s municipal pool, located at George Washington Memorial Park. Almost as old as the town of Buffalo, it started out as a swimming hole in the late 1890s. View the changes and improvements made since its formal establishment in 1922, through its time as a Works Progress Administration project in 1935, into its appearance today. This behemoth pool was free until 2021 when the City of Buffalo Pool Board made the hard decision to charge admissions to assist in funding maintenance expenses.
